GEORGE W BUSH JR.
early life |
President Bush was born in New Haven, Connecticut on July 6, 1946, then later raised in Midland and Houston, Texas. Following his father, Bush graduated from Yale University with a bachelor's degree in history in 1968. Then he served as a fighter pilot in the Texas Air National Guard. He then received an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1975.

After graduating from Harvard, a younger Bush Jr. moved back to Midland, Texas to work in the energy business. He maintained several good relationships with people who helped his father with his successful presidential campaign. This led him to become elected as Governor of Texas. He was the first Texas governor to be elected for 4 years consecutively. He resigned as governor after being elected as the 43rd President of the United States in 2001.

Serving his first term in 2001, President Bush worked with Congress to build security and ownership society. During his first term he also had to deal with the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and the threats on the Nation. He started to take steps on the war against terror and building a more peaceful America. After serving his first term, he was elected again but this time American's opinions on his presidency was more negative and not supportive of his policies, due to low employment rates, a war that wasn't justified, and his response to Hurricane Katrina.

LIFE AFTER PRESIDENCY |
Now as a former President, Bush spends time with family. He's married to Laura Welch Bush, a past teacher and librarian. Together, they have twin daughters, Barbara and Jenna. The family owns two dogs, Barney and Miss Beazley, along with a cat, Willie.
